- Placements increase for second month in a row
- But vacancies down from May
- Candidates also see small monthly fall
Travel placements inch up
The number of candidates placed in new travel jobs has risen for the second consecutive month, according to the latest figures from C&M Travel Recruitment.
However, June's increase of three per cent meant that activity levels remained lower than in previous years, with a fall of 52 per cent from June 2022, a rise of 76 per cent from June 2021, and falls of 30 per cent from June 2019 and 50 per cent from June 2018.
Candidates and vacancies see monthly dips
The month saw a small fall in the number of new candidates searching for travel jobs, with a decrease of 11 per cent from May. Compared to previous years, June 2023 was down by a slim one per cent from June 2022, up by 11 per cent from June 2021, up by 21 per cent from June 2019 and up by 16 per cent from June 2018.
The number of new jobs being created in the travel industry fell back in June by 40 per cent from May.
Vacancy numbers slipped by 27 per cent from the same month in 2022, were up by 25 per cent from June 2021, but were down by 28 per cent from June 2019 and down by 29 per cent from June 2018.
Speaking about the stats, Barbara Kolosinska, Managing Director at C&M Travel Recruitment, said: "It’s always great to see a rise in the number of candidates being placed in new travel roles – and while activity levels are down from last year, this allows us to spend more time focusing on each role and finding the perfect candidate for each company.
"Things have now reduced to a more manageable level from 2022, and with salaries continuing to rise, there are many, many fantastic opportunities out there for quality applicants.
"With summer now in full flow, we expect activity to remain around this level until everything picks up in September – leaving an excellent gap in the market for any travel company in the position to start their recruitment drive earlier than their competitors."
